Abstract
The purpose of this paper is to present the Hammurabi Code. The emphasis is put on the geographical grounds which led to the creation of the first high civilisation in Mesopotamia, and to the Hammurabi Code, along with the causes and conditions for the development of law and the establishment of a patriarchal system.
